When you lay artificial grass yourself, you want a strong foundation. You can compare it to the foundation of a house. When creating this base, consider how the artificial turf will be used. Do children often play on it? Is it used for sports? Or is it mostly aesthetic with very few people using it?
Furthermore, the water permeability of the artificial grass is important. You don’t want puddles to form quickly on the turf. It’s beneficial if water can drain away quickly. To achieve this, it’s best to choose a sand bed of mixed granulate with a height between 5 and 10 centimeters.
If the conditions are really poor, you can add a layer of lava or install a drainage system.
We always recommend using edge finishing. This is what you place at the ends of the artificial grass, such as concrete curbs, plastic, or paving stones. It’s important to think carefully about the type of edge finishing you want, as it will determine the appearance.
