Beautifully laid artificial grass in your garden is a pleasure to look at. But of course you want your artificial turf to last as long as possible. Maintenance is therefore very important. In 7 steps you can make sure your artificial grass stays spick and span. Here is this step-by-step plan!
The current condition of the artificial grass lawn is thoroughly assessed. From this, it is determined whether the entire maintenance process needs to be followed.
Unfortunately, there is a chance that moss can grow in your artificial grass lawn, especially in shaded areas where it is more susceptible. But don’t worry: it can easily be removed.
Removing the moss will naturally leave some dirt behind. We will clean this dirt away by neatly wiping the edges!
Now that the moss has been removed, it’s important to do everything possible to prevent it from returning quickly. To achieve this, we will spray the lawn with what’s known as biomoss and stoneware.
The foundation has been prepared. Now we will deep clean the artificial grass lawn using special maintenance machines to tackle heavy dirt, including verticutting brushes!
After deep cleaning the artificial grass mat, we check if there is still enough sand present. If not, we will apply new sand.
Finally, it’s time for the finishing touch: the artificial grass will be thoroughly brushed up. The result: a lawn that looks as good as new!

Should I water my artificial grass?
Artificial grass is water-resistant so you can easily hose it down with water, but artificial grass does not necessarily need to be sprinkled. If you have dogs and it’s dry for a few weeks, you can spray off your mat where the dog’s faeces are. Also, if it is dusty or you are in the middle of a renovation then you can spray down artificial grass.
Does artificial grass need to be maintained?
Yes, as with all types of user products, some maintenance is also required for artificial grass. But compared to natural grass, it obviously requires a lot less work. It does not have to be mowed, scarified or watered. Even bare patches are now a thing of the past.
The amount of maintenance that needs to be done depends a bit on the external factors in your garden. Whereas most people will virtually never do anything to it, gardens with lots of trees, birds or shade need some form of maintenance faster.
What does this mean in practice? What does this mean in practice?
Weeds cannot grow through your artificial grass from below. We always apply a pressure-distributing fabric under the artificial grass. This not only has an advantage for the stability of the mat, but also that no weeds can germinate from under your mat. However, it is possible that wind or birds could blow seeds into your grass, causing weeds to grow in your artificial grass from above.
Of course, there is no breeding ground in artificial grass so weeds cannot take root. This also makes it easy to remove or it will dry out quickly in summer.
It is also advisable not to leave fallen leaves on your artificial grass for too long. You can remove them with a rake or leaf blower. We also sell special brush machines with collection tray for this purpose. When left too long, it increases the risk of weeds.
To remove weeds, you can use various biological pesticides. For moss and algae, we also sell the product bio-moss. Although we have never experienced problems with this, we advise you to try it first on a small area to make sure the mat does not discolour.
Can I walk on my artificial grass in frosty weather?
When there is snow on the artificial grass, we recommend walking on the artificial grass as little as possible.
When there is a frozen layer of ice on the artificial grass, you should not walk on the artificial grass, as the fibres may break off in this case.
Can I place my garden furniture on the artificial grass?
It is no problem to place your garden set or other heavy objects on the artificial grass, because our underlayer consists of granulate or lava it is suitable to place heavy objects on the grass. If the object is sharp on the underside, we always recommend placing a plate underneath to minimise the point load so it cannot pierce through the artificial grass.
Can artificial grass withstand chlorine?
Yes all our products are chlorine-resistant. Artificial grass around and under the pool is therefore also perfect. The artificial grass will always retain its colour and plants around the pool will not drown.
